A re-imagining of a song by Sony & Cher from 1967
I've always liked this song. It has that certain mid sixties, 'Hey, what's happening man', attitude.
So it seems a perfect song to include in my 1960s themed album, London Aftershock (volume 2).
Not only is the groove 'hypnotic', it's also very 'Hip-notic' :-)
The Beat Goes On (c)1967, Sony Bono.
The beat goes on, the beat goes on.
the beat goes on, the beat goes on.
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain.
La-de-da-de-de, La-de-da-de-da
Charleston was once the rage, ah huh.
History has turned the page, ah huh.
The miniskirt's the current thing, ah huh.
Teenybopper is our our new-born king, ah huh.
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on,
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain.
La-de-da-de-de, La-de-da-de-da.
The grocery store's the super mart, ah huh.
Little girls still break their hearts, ah huh.
And men still keep marching off to war.
Electrically they keep the baseball score.
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on,
instrumental section ...
Grandmas sit in chairs and reminisce.
Boys keep chasing girls to get a kiss.
The cars keep going faster all the time.
Bums still cry, "hey buddy, can you spare a dime?".
and the beat goes on, the beat goes on,
La-de-da-de-de, La-de-da-de-da.
and the beat goes on, the beat goes on,
and the beat goes on, the beat goes on,
and the beat goes on, the beat goes on ...
... fade-out ...
